Paying Attention

Photography calls us to pay attention to what is going on around us.   Photography teaches us to detach and observe.  If we don't like what we see, we can walk on.  We possess that power of choice.

Photography teaches us to:
Observe
Follow the light.
Look closely.
See things differently.
Be open to new experiences.
Make choices.
Stand back...Detach
Scrutinize
Edit
Strive for excellence
Trash the junk.

We have a power outage. The silence is magnificent. During this time of quiet solitude, I am watching things fall into place. Much is revealed while being a detached observer. Material for the book is everywhere.

An empty page waiting to be filled. Today is a new day--a day of infinite possibilities. How exciting is that?

Blooming Again

"A gift twice given is twice as nice."

This is the second time this plant has bloomed this year.  Exciting.  A breath of fresh air and life in the office.

A Retreat

The idea of a personal retreat has fascinated me for years and finally I have decided to do it.  September is my cutoff time and I plan to sequester myself and lay low starting now until then.  I must finish the book.  Posting of photographs will continue.   I look forward to being in the silence (with no interruptions) while writing and shooting full time.

Setup for Spring Tea

When working on images, I like to do several versions then wait over night, or for a few days, before making  choices. Sometimes that results in "back to the drawing board."  And...there's nothing wrong with that!  :-)

Challenges

Today has been a tryout monitors day.   What a can of worms--or Pandora's box this is.  Don't know if any of you out there have had this challenge, but let me say...not fun.   Hopefully, tomorrow when fresh, wide-awake and clear headed things will become clearer and make more sense.  This afternoon my brain is mush.

Even the subtlest changes can make a difference.

Lily of the Valley

Working on Lily of the Valley image.  Below is Updated image revised for brightness. The original still works for me.  Am trying to find a balance on light on computer monitors.   Purchased a cable today so I can see images larger.  The problem is:   there is no way of knowing how people have set their monitors for brightness and color.   Guess I will have to continue testing until I get things as close as I can to settings that will show images as exact as possible on all monitors.

Patience is a key to photography.  Several days of waiting have passed.  Finally, this morning these bell blossoms burst open.

Two More Lovelies

I can't get enough images of tulips.  This year the tulips are gorgeous.   I am hooked.
