While getting the car filled up with gas yesterday, I noticed this geometric/abstract image of snow on some storage facility roofs: The result reminds me of a piano keyboard.  Took this using my iphone and worked on it using downloaded itune apps.  Is fun for me to play with images in my phone, although this does not compare to what one can do using Photoshop and a computer.

EGG CUP (First Proof Enlarged) Subtle variations can be chosen when shooting in Manual mode while Aperture Priority mode adjusts to give the same result every time. The camera always wants an average exposure across the whole image when in Program modes. Exposure compensation (+/- button) has no effect when shooting in Aperture Priority mode in low light.

I love to play with images and compare results. The top image was taken with my iPhone and worked on a bit in Photoshop. The bottom image was taken with a Nikon D-300 with only slight adjustments in Photoshop. Took these images to show the effect of shadows on an object and as an example of how some objects evoke nostalgia. Personal preference, point of view and mood make choosing the "best"

Taking a break from sharing info thru a class is wonderful. I am loving the freedom! Wow, who knew? Now, I have time to devote to new ideas and the list of challenges created for me, by me. Am taking a few days off to play. Yesterday I took pics of roses in low light with my iPhone and then added some texture. Oh, it was such fun! I am amazed at that quality of the images. Usually I shoot using Manual mode. Every now and then, it is good to simply let go and let the images fly. ROSE WITH TEXTURE

This week's images were intuitively taken holding iphone camera at hip level, not arranging for composition and without looking at the LCD screen. I did play with a couple of in-camera (Plastique app) techniques--adding those choices prior to shooting.

In answer to a question about what camera(s) I use: Most of the time I use a Nikon D300, with an older Nikon D100 as my backup camera. For the macro shot, I used the D100 camera with a Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8 G ED with VR lens.

On my desk sits a handcrafted wooden box. Inside I keep small found and favorite things.
