This image was taken with my iphone. Currently, I am struggling to learn how to use different apps and features. My brain is turning to mush....on overload. Hopefully I will "get it" soon.

Blue (Refined)
Feathers used in my images are painted and natural turkey feathers. Be advised: it is against the law to have any migrating bird, or birds of prey, feathers in your possession.

Reflection
Last night's sunset was stupendous. Took several shots with my "big boy" camera, then grabbed this one with the iphone. Am having a blast learning.

A First
Today we got iphones. This was necessary to save our unlimited data package. Came home and started fooling around with things and had a grand time. Bob brought in some hydrangeas today so.........here is the first image taken.

Cameras
In answer to a question about what camera(s) I use: Most of the time I use a Nikon D300, with an older Nikon D100 as my backup camera. For the macro shot, I used the D100 camera with a Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8 G ED with VR lens.

Macro
On my desk sits a handcrafted wooden box. Inside I keep small found and favorite things. The crude brass sculpture below is approximate an inch to an inch and a half in size and I found him years ago in a parking lot. He is sitting on a small chunk of Thunder Bay amethyst.
This week we are playing with macro and closeup images. Below are two macro images. I am continually amazed at the difference lighting makes. Macro works best when you keep your camera parallel to the object. The flatter the object the better the results. The three-dimensional pieces below take on an artsy look as the foreground sharpness diffuses into the background.

Meditation Garden
Am planning a meditation garden under some pine trees. Ordered a bench today and am thinking about what to include: green plants, rocks and stones, a reminder of water and a special piece signifying peace, quiet and solitude.

What a Cutie!
This image is "soft," however the look on her face got to me....had to post. Am going to work on getting sharper bird images. That's my challenge this week.

First Attempt
This is the first time I have shot birds in what feels like a hundred years. I used to do nature photography back in the 80s, but that was a long time ago. Any knowledge from back then is going to have to resurface.
Handheld camera...next time I will use tripod. Considering this was taken through living room window with screen, I am pleased.

Thinking
" I cannot teach anyone anything. I can only make them think." --Socrates
To be good at anything, one must think. Photography is no exception. If a person continually asks for settings and refuses to think things through for themselves, they are not learning anything. To truly learn one must think and experiment.

Hydrangea in Crock
This is a more saturated image and I think I like it better than the softer one...not sure...
I may reshoot today adding something to create interest.
