This week we had a snow storm. I haven't seen this much snow in nine years. So...in keeping with the season, here is my entry which reminds me of early black and white snow captures taken in New York City at the turn of the century:
NORTH CAROLINA SNOW STORM

Very pretty with a sort of English Edwardian atmosphere to it.

I love the strong lines of the trees... great image! I hope that you all are having a very special holiday.
Lovely shot, it's got a real yesteryear feel to it.
Magnificent picture, undoubtly. So beautiful to see, when you are cosy at home.
Winter and snow were made for monochromatic shots - or vice versa. Especially with such a fine specimen.
Thank you for the nice comments and Season's Greetings!
That's a wonderful shot. I'm also in North Carolina. In the triangle area where I live it didn't amount to much.
Good shot that captures the mood of the storm. We're of like mind this week Elizabeth. How could you resist photographing the magic? Happy New Year.
As you say, a very 'period' feel to the shot.
Lovely shapes and placement in your contribution this week, Elisabeth. I do like the long stalks that you have used in the foreground and which draw our eye into your image.
Health and happiness to you and yours during 2010.
The structure reminded me of Japan more than England or some other place. The snow. Well, you can have our share which we haven't got yet. Still knocking on wood.
Your picture is outstanding.
I won't forget that storm for a long time. I've never seen so much snow in all my life.
I took some pictures of that storm now I wan't to make them black and white. :)
Such a pretty little cottage. It looks like someplace I would want to build a fire in and wait out the storm. Beautiful picture.
I really do miss snow at Christmas, lovely photo. Calico Contemplations
