Image Compression Problems

Am having image compression problems and am trying to figure out what is going awry. Darn...I haven't been faced with a challenge of this magnitude in a while. Am determined to resolve this situation.

I reposted the Onions (from earlier this week) and compared the two images. One step in post production may need to be discarded and not ever used in the future.

This challenge brings back rule #1: Get it right in the camera!!!!
