The Second Storm

Our car crawled home from town late Friday afternoon. Trucks and cars skidded sideways. Some landed in ditches. Twenty miles per hour got us home safe and sound as the snow fell to measure over one foot in depth.

This morning the sun is out. Yea!

Below we have shadows and sparkles:

Time Out

Rest is a good thing. Sometimes it pays to take a time out--a time to simply "be." Today we are snowed in and can't go anywhere. Reading sounds like a good idea while curled up in my old friend comforter. Or, perhaps a sketch or two... The lure of drawing calls to me. Whatever the outcome, my Time Out sign is hanging on the door.

SkyWatch Friday Sunsets

Thanks to our SkyWatch team: Klaus Sandy Wren Fishing Guy Louise and Sylvia. Click on the icon below to see more SkyWatch Friday images.

Another week has rolled by and this week we were graced with some super SkyWatch skies. The top image was taken from a parking lot. I saw the sun streaming through the clouds on the way to town and pulled into a local mall to catch those rays before they disappeared. The next image and the one below were taken at the cabin.

DUSK

I am so pleased with how the last shot came out. I couldn't wait even one day to share it. So, I posted it yesterday and am posting it again today so SkyWatch folks can see it too. Does this ever happen to you? When a decent image pops up on my LCD screen, I go crazy with enthusiasm. Photography today is so much fun. In an instant, we have an image. This is wonderful. I love it!

Dusk

Yesterday I finally had an opportunity to shoot. Oh, such fun. Am feeling better and that, as I have stated before, is crucial when wanting to capture a good image. Click on image to enlarge.

Remember: How you feel shows in your work.

Today is dreary, overcast and rainy. However, this week the sky was phenomenal. The camera even captured a distant hawk silhouette. Life Is Good!

Out the Candle

In Pennsylvania Dutch country, one "outs the light." Today I wondered if I could catch some smoke after "outting" a candle.

Saw this sunrise and had to catch it. True our views and vantage points don't change here at the cabin, however these spectacular light shows continue to amaze us.

Working On Book

Working on book every morning and I am searching for time to keep up this journal. I will try to post every day, however this may not be feasible. Sooooo...will post as often as I can.

Today I worked on visual outline and paste up. Added snap grid to theme pages. Will print out and display in prominent place in the cabin.

Potatoes--a staple for survival. I love the simplicity of this shot. This image reminds me of Renaissance life and a less complicated time.

Wow!

2010 in going to be a very good year. This morning a juvenile hawk came to our bird feeder. Got one halfway decent shot. Only one because the excitement level was high. Hate when that happens...I get so excited that I almost miss the shot.

SkyWatch--Early Morning

Looking out at sky and mountains from our living room, is one of my favorite things to do. There is a constant panorama of change going on out there. And...I find that exciting. What drama!

After seeing various hues through the window, it is out to shoot from the porch. It is really cold out there, but worth the effort. Each moment offers new perspectives.

Tip for Photographers:
Be Alert and Looking at All Times. Below is a reflection of this morning's sky in Bob's computer monitor. These Surrealistic images remind me of Frederick Church's home at Olana where the windows frame the landscape views outside.

This is my first time entering Sepia Scenes. My first love is monochrome and in particular deep sepia-toned images. I feel strongly that most images do not translate well in sepia. Antiques and old things work best (in my opinion). So, we will see how many "scenes" I can shoot that "work."
