Happy New Year!!!! Wishing you all the very best in 2010 and may all your dreams come true.

The sky here has been phenomenal this week. We have limited views from the cabin so the trees are the same, but the dramatic sky backdrop continues to evolve and change.

Sun On The Mountain

Good morning! This morning, the sunshine touched the bare mountain top with a rosy glow. This is unusual since all the leaves are gone...the trees are grey and bare, yet color, on the mountain top, popped.

Note to Self: Every day is different...same subject, different light changing the look of a scene and the mood.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!

This week we had a snow storm. I haven't seen this much snow in nine years. So...in keeping with the season, here is my entry which reminds me of early black and white snow captures taken in New York City at the turn of the century:

What Do You See?

No, I haven't lost my mind. Am playing with seeing again. So....what do you see in this brown wrapping paper?

Grrrrrrrrrr!

What's this? I'm sick...and protesting loudly. Not fair...It is Christmas. Darn, darn, darn.

Anyway, yesterday I posted a lavender shot (straight from the camera) and am quite pleased with it. We have never seen those shades from our living room window before. Add ice to the lavender sunrise and wow. Blew me away.

There is a shot I really want to do soon (as soon as I feel up to it) and that is a figure that came out of a box from my son and his family. It is so weird...the brown wrapping paper looks like a Biblical figure (and some other figures too)! Would it sell on ebay? Probably. Too funny.

Lavender Fairyland

We have a frosty, lavender morning--a place where sugar plum fairies can hide.

Before Dawn

It is cold out there as dawn is breaking--cold and silent-wonderful. These images are straight from the camera without lightening.

Early Morning Snow On The Mountains

Across the orchard, our neighbors left their wreath lit all night. What a cheery sight!

What A Beautiful Morning!

We have about 18 inches of snow this morning. Up over my boots and tough walking. Huffing and puffing now. It is gorgeous out there. Went out right after the sun came up and this is what I got:

Snow Can Stop Now

We are having blizzard (white out) conditions. Ok, Mr. Snowmaker...you can stop now. Enough already!

Hooray! Snow!

Snow...I'm excited. It looks like Christmas. And...it is really snowing hard and heavy. Below is my favorite walnut tree. No hawk perched there this morning.

When the morning sun rises and the field grasses turn pink, out I run camera in hand. Some sunrises are more spectacular than others, however no matter...they all look grand to me. Here are two unedited captures from a couple of days ago:

This Morning's Sky

Ran outside barefoot this morning to catch morning sunrise shots....brrrrrrrrr!

A little while later, I looked out my sky watching window and saw Mother Nature sending cloud signals. Don't you just love it?

This scene caught my attention because of the cloud drama and the bright stripe starting to stretch across the sky. I love looking out one of our windows and watching the sky during the day from first light until sunset. It is an ever-changing show.

Experimentation continues. I am including these images, so you can see changes as they occur. Now, it is a matter of choice.

FIRST DIGITAL BROMOIL

Several years ago, I began experimenting with a process called digital bromoil. First attempt above. Last night I returned to that experimentation. What is wonderful is: no chemicals involved!

Several additional steps may be necessary. I will continue working with this image, or not. I do like the intensity of inking and depth. Will let this rest for a while and decide on any changes after the time out.

Image Compression Problems

Am having image compression problems and am trying to figure out what is going awry. Darn...I haven't been faced with a challenge of this magnitude in a while. Am determined to resolve this situation.

I reposted the Onions (from earlier this week) and compared the two images. One step in post production may need to be discarded and not ever used in the future.

This challenge brings back rule #1: Get it right in the camera!!!!

Dramatic Dusk

Sometimes watching the sky and catching images blows my mind. This image represents one of those times.

Layers

Onions fascinate me. Creatively we peel away psychological and spiritual layers as we delve deeper into our beings and our souls. With photography, the deeper we go the more intense our images become. I firmly believe in the correlation between self and the created image. What we are can be seen in our work.

Am posting another image of the onions to compare with the one above...seems I am having compression problems when posting images.
